Carsand-Mosher Photographic was created in 1970 through the merger of Mosher's Studio (which had been in operation since 1948) and Carsand Photos. Initially owned and operated by Carson and Marianne Yorke and a partner, Carsand-Mosher has evolved into a family business that is still operated by seven Yorke family members.

The original business specialized in portrait photography but has grown to become the largest independent photographic camera retailer in Eastern Canada. In 1980, Carsand-Mosher was one of the first retailers in Nova Scotia to offer on-site photoprocessing. Giving the best quality prints from customer’s film and digital files has always been a priority with all images being individually adjusted for colour and density. Lab staff have years of experience, insuring high quality control.

As photography has moved from film to digital, Carsand-Mosher has invested in new equipment and is one of the few retailers in Eastern Canada who can make prints up to 20x32 inches on photographic paper from digital files. Customers can order using on-site photo kiosks in all locations, or order prints, photo books, and calendars online.

Carsand-Mosher has a long history of growth and change while retaining the best qualities of the original family operation.
